Congee's Dilemma

Watching the Oscars, chatting to our common friends, and we were "making sumbong" to the same person, but we're seated close to each other... at the sofa... laptops beside each other.. on the same table.. nakakatawa! Mukha kaming tanga! haha..

I love it!
My new role...

I have been many things... and I assumed different personalities... from being a yaya and cook, I am now a driver....hahaha.. :) Wish me luck!

This was the picture taken on my very first day on our apartment in Minnepolis (October 14,2006). Consi had it stashed somewhere and who would have known what awaited me...

"Boulevard Of Broken Dreams"

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
and I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line
Of the edge and where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams

Simple Joys

These past few days, I have been out of sorts. I feel a certain disconnect and I have found solace and joy in the following:- The train ride from Minnepolis Downtown to the Mall of America (MOA) that takes about 45 minutes. Unlike the MRT in Manila, there are just a few people on board and you get to enjoy the view as you pass each station. You get to think things over and it helps when you bring your Ipod with you. You also get to observe the locals, how they stare into nothingness and how they converse. Some read, some talk to their seatmates and some, like me just observe. I go to MOA not for the shopping but for the train ride and the walk inside the mall. It's like a dream, you get to walk a great distance and you'll always find something new and interesting such as three Chicanos (2 girls and 1 gay) and I just followed them around (stalker?) . The mall is the Filipino's park. You go there to think, to walk and to mull things over. - I enjoy shopping. I don…

Happy Vday! :)
The Bigger Person...

These past few days, I am reading this book - The Ways of the Peaceful Warrior. I chanced upon a passage that seems to be cliche in terms of self development chuva, but upon further introspection, I realized that this is easier read than done.

"In life, we must not be reactive, we must be active." (or something to that effect)...

How can I do that if ...

"If you're hurt, can you not fight back?" (reactive)
"If you're being manipulated and feel so powerless, will you not push? (reactive)"

It easy to treat others as they will treat you, to give them a dose of their own medicine, but again, you must be the bigger person (figuratively and literally, haha) but I have to keep in mind that we are warriors, we should not be easily swayed by emotions. We all carry extra baggage and there’s a reason why people are that way.

Again, to choose, that's our gift - "to be mediocre and react" or "to be different and ACT"!

A great weekend hiatus

I spent the weekend with Conchita at Edina. It was a blast! First off, Conchita and I haven't talked face to face from the time she went back from Manila. I miss her perky skip and her cute little voice... only Conchita can uplift you even if you feel out of it. Just to hear that voice can bring you back to earth... yaha!

I miss moving on a large kitchen. I told Conchita that one day, I would like to own and to work for a diner or something. I like to chop, to cook, and to clean. Someday, I will have my own turo-turo in the kanto. Their kitchen in Edina is perfect! Iron chef Anto on the house. And of course, Conchita again fed me... these are two of the most delish foods:
- Haagen Daas ice Cream - Baileys flavored (sana ka pa!)
- Breaded Tilapia Fillet with Lemon! (yummy!)

The energy in Edina is different from downtown. You can really recharge your energy chakras in Edina. It must be the trees! I haven't charged Carding (my tarot cards) for awhile. I sen…
Cold Pigey

Yes, cabin fever is here. It's too darn cold to venture outside and I can't walk on the snow because I have poor sense of balance so I'd rather stay indoors and be warm then to freeze my big butt off.

When I first saw the temperature -32 Fahrenheit I really can't believe it. Subzero temperature! Gosh, when we went out to St. Paul to go to the winter carnival I literally felt knifelike air cut against my skin. I had to talk to Cads just to stop my jaw from feeling numb. It was so cold! When we talked, our speech was slurred like we were a pair of drunks.

My bones ache. I know I am old, but the cold really triggered something. I have chronic pain on my knees and joints so I have to put pain ointment every night. It is really that bad.

So, to keep me occupied, I am very thankful to Osang the vixen for lending me her gamecube. It saved my sanity! I found the key to passing time without staring at a blank wall counting cracks (but I love that also).

I am now a lei…
This scares me...

In Europe, because of the decline in church attendance (lowest in history), the grand old churches are being converted to restaurants, mosques and shiks temples. I am not scared of converting them to restaurants, that's good eats! But to think that Muslims (ardent believers) outnumber Christians now more than ever should put us on Red alert.

Why? People of faith have strong wills. They can be pushed to do the impossible, perform Harikiri, fight in a war with all their might and destroy the world order that is ostracizing them (because of Iraq conflicts)... in short, they are the ones who can kill.

Why? Killing is bad, but with a strong belief that you're doing something for the greater good, that makes a strong warrior. If there's going to be a war, we're doom!

AMEN!
Thank you...

There are a lot of things to be thankful for and with the silence (lull after the storm as my roomie would like to call it), I see that life is indeed beautiful.

I am gaining weight, yes, I was about to freak out when my roomie ever so supportive said, "Tulungan kita dre!". I was hoping that she'll conjure a great diet plan or exercise program and she told me afterwards, "I'll help you shop for your new set of wardrobe!". Yes, ever the shopaholic of this household.

Yep, I can no longer blame the dryer for making my clothes shrink nor the "broken" weighing scale when I saw the three digit number. Yes, I resign myself to the weight. I can't have all those good food go into waste.. wehehehe.. :)

I thank the universe for the peace, for the salmon cooked by Nike (eat that with beer and you're in heaven!) and Grey's Anatomy. Life doesn't get better than this and I am truly grateful.

There's a balance in the universe and havi…
Laugh Trip

Sign of the times...

-We go home early from work.
-Cooking three viands and listening to John Mayer's New CD Continuum (ganda!) and having a lively chat with roomie about non-work matters for once.
-Day off! Watched a movie at 4 pm in the afternoon and dinner at Applebee's which I found out has a cute gay waiter... hihihihi
-Chatting with roome and thought of making her laugh with this joke:
- Anto: Dre, seryoso, explain mo sa kin...
- Nike: Ang alin dre.. ano yun?
- Anto: Grabeh, tagal kong iniisip, bumabagabag sa kin...
- Nike: Uy, ano yun, oki ka lang?
- Anto: Heto, "aba ginoo maria..."
- Nike: Huh?
- Anto: Bakit naging ginoo si maria? Lalaki ba sya?
wehehehehehe :)

Bow!
